R-410A
What Is R-410A?
R-410A is an environmentally friendly, next-generation refrigerant. Many refrigerants developed before R-410A including R-22, contain chlorine, which is harmful to the ozone layer. R-410A is chlorine-free and therefore better for the environment.
Why Should I Purchase Equipment Using Refrigerant R-410A Instead of R-22?
Control Repair Cost: R-22 production is being reduced and therefore R-22 is becoming increasingly expensive. The cost of repairs to equipment containing R-22 will become increasingly expensive.
Protect the Environment: The Clean Air Act requires that as of 2010, all new air conditioning and heat pump units manufactured in North America will use chlorine-free refrigerants.
Lower Operating Cost: Using R-410A in air conditioners or heat pumps, actually makes it possible to achieve higher energy efficiency.
How Can I Be Sure R-410A Is "The One"?
The first units built using R-410A were introduced in 1995. Today, all of the major manufacturers of residential HVAC equipment are building units that use R-410A. These companies have made the investments necessary in retooling their manufacturing facilities to build new units designed to work specifically with R-410A. The HVAC industry is fast moving toward R-410A being the ONLY refrigerant used in the USA for the manufacture of residential air conditioning equipment.
